Audubon School is fortunate to be located in a neighborhood that supports and promotes its neighborhood schools. Roscoe Village Neighbors (RVN) developed the Roscoe Village Education Coalition (RVEC) to educate residents about both Chicago Public School (CPS) options in the neighborhood, including Audubon School and Jahn School.
RVN and RVEC also lend critical financial support to Audubon and Jahn Schools, from income generated by the neighborhood association’s annual Retro on Roscoe Street Fest, one of the largest and most popular street fairs in all of Chicago, occurring annually in August. For the past several years, RVN has contributed approximately $25,000 per year to support the art integration program at Audubon run by Redmoon Theatre.
In October, RVN and RVEC work with Audubon School on an annual Halloween Parade and Party. The parade occurs on Roscoe Street, right in the heart of the neighborhood, and is followed by the Halloween Party at Audubon School, with all activities run by Audubon teachers.
In addition to these important programs and events, the RVN and Audubon communities continue an ongoing dialog in order to share resources and develop new initiatives that will benefit both neighborhood residents and student and parent communities.
