On October 17th, the Local School Council created a principal selection sub-committee to facilitate a search process and identify candidates to present to the Local School Council. We will be meeting this Wednesday, October 26th, at 6pm, to review the specifics of the CPS procedure for principal selection and create the timeline and strategy for selecting Audubon’s next principal. Included in that meeting will be discussion around ways we can involve all members of the broader school community. Principal Selection: Time for Your Input

Dear Parents and Community Members:

As you have no doubt heard, John Price will be taking a new position as Deputy Chief of Schools for the Ravenswood-Ridge network of the Chicago Public Schools. Although we are very sorry to see him leave Audubon, we are happy for Principal Price, and wish him every success in his new endeavor. As he prepares for his departure, he will support the transition process with an interim principal, Joyce Nakamura, former principal of Stone Scholastic Academy, who will be in place by mid-November.

On October 17th, the Local School Council created a principal selection sub-committee. The principal selection committee wants to reach out to Audubon’s families and community members to share information about our plans in the coming days and weeks. The committee consists of the following parents and teachers:

It is the role of this committee to facilitate a search process and identify candidates to present to the Local School Council. The Local School Council will then vote to select the school’s next principal. We will be meeting October 26th, at 6:00pm, to review the specifics of the CPS procedure for principal selection and create the timeline and strategy for selecting Audubon’s next principal. Included in that meeting will be discussion around ways we can involve all members of the broader school community. We wish to hear any and all input and concerns around this process. Audubon’s Principal Selection Committee

Please join us at tonight’s (Monday, October 17th) monthly LSC Meeting where 47th Ward Alderman Pawar will be honoring Audubon with a generous monetary donation to further Audubon’s goal of improving outdoor play spaces for kids, including a new playground and turf. Outdoor space is a project that the Audubon community, including LSC members and parents, has been working on diligently, so this is very much appreciated and will prove transformative. We hope that there will be a good showing of Audubon families to accept this contribution.
